Chinamans Hat Sunset

We took a trip out to Bellows today to visit with some old friends who are staying in one of the cabins. I also brought along my camera to get some pictures. Sometime in the next few days (maybe even tomorrow), I’m going to do another full post about some of the fun things to do out at Bellows.

But in the mean time, I got a nice sunset picture of Chinaman’s Hat Rabbit Island, with a really pretty reflection in the foreground water. I hope you enjoy today’s Hawaii Picture of the day.

    Hi Ron,

    Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Yes, I do have all of my images in much better resolution. I actually need to play around my gallery plugin to see if I can make these images look a little bit better in the posts. In addition, I’m also thinking about putting up a page where people can request the higher-res images and/or maybe send online post cards (do people still do that?, or is it kind of 2002ish?)

    That’s not Chinaman’s Hat. That’s Manana, sometimes called Rabbit Island. You couldn’t come close to seeing Chinaman’s Hat from Bellows.

    lol, thanks Dr Waxter, you just dissipated 30 years of delusion. After a quick bit of googling, you are very correct … Chinaman’s hat is in Kaneohe Bay … in no way visible from Bellows.

    Ever since I was a kid, I always thought that island out near Makapuu point was Chinaman’s hat, and the other little Island over to the west of Bellows beach was Rabbit Island … all these years, I’ve been wrong … thanks.

    I still like the picture thought ;-)
