Ok, so I’ve been on a bit of a blog redesign kick this weekend (for those who know me, I bet you’re shocked, shocked, shocked). Btw, I am seriously impressed with Elegant Themes. Not only do they look good on the outside, but back-end options panel is probably the best I’ve seen … easy to change colors and layout right from the control panel; without editing any code. But I digress, sorry back to the story …
So as I was re-doing the make money from home page on the CandleMonkey blog, I realized that I didn’t have any good, no cheesy, pictures of money.
So I grabbed a $20 bill and my camera, and went to the living room where Jaiden was on the couch watching Sesame Street. Here’s the result:

Jaiden thought it was great fun … until she tried to eat my money and I had to take it away from her. Ana also thought it was cute.
My only “worry” … if I keep doing this sort of thing, is she going to eventually grow up into a teenager who resents her dad‘s “exploitive” ways?

LOL I am supposed to say cute kid aren’t I – I have been around new parents before I remember this stage! BTW it should have been lots of $100′s not just one $20 – and she’s got it upside down.
Seriously one thing you will never see on my blog are pictures of my family that would go double if I had kids – I just think the kiddie porn thing is way too sick to ever risk it – just my 2c…

You might just have a point … unfortunately … looking at my analytics, ever since I made this post, I get a disturbing amount of searchers arriving via the term “Use my Daughter”.
ugh.
Theme looks really good Todd, and it sounds like it has the same sort of functions from the control panel that mine does. Sure makes it a lot easier to change things without having to worry about code. Was it a free theme?
As to your daughter resenting you, I doubt it very much. I reckon she will learn a lot from her dad as she grows up. She’s a cute kid too.

Hi Sire,
I got this one as part of a theme club … $19.95 for a year … and there are about 20+ very nice themes, with new ones added on a fairly regular basis.
Man, that is good. I paid a fair bit more for mine but that included a developers license so that I could use it on all my blogs.
I have to admit, I loved what you’ve done with it. Really nice.

I really like this theme. Love the color combination. I highly doubt Jaiden is going to grow up resenting you, lol. Kinda funny how that emancipation article gets a lot of traffic. Who knew? I had a pic of my granddaughter on one post but took it down. Too many weirdos scanning my site these days.

This is really a impressive stuff. I love they it is designed the template looks quite eye catching. The baby is looking very cute indeed…muuuuhhhhhaaaaaa
First off the blog design is killer with the lite pattern in the background. Next, the thing I wonder and not being the generation with a computer in hand since birth like the current, is whether or not it is setting bad precedent for the future. We remember what it was like to grow up without everything we did being online but this next generation wont. Will they lose the ability to remain anonymous online and in the world to come? I know you weren’t trying to make this post into a big deal. But I cringe slightly when I see friends 1-2 yr old kids with Facebook profiles thinging, “god I wouldn’t want that for myself.” Not unless I was controlling it. Food for thought.

Yes, as far as anyone having the ability to remain anonymous, I think that cat is already out of the bag even today … and will only get worse/better (depending on your perspective).
I’m generally speaking, a pretty “no worries” kind of guy. So the way I look at, with the kids being online, rather than fight it, I might as well embrace it …
When she was just real little, I actually registered a domain for jaidenJaidenMorris.com Right now, her mom uses it to post pictures and stories of her growing up. But sometime in the future, if she ever wants to explore her creative side, she’ll already have a website that’s as old as she is … and “branded” with her own name.
To me, that’s the ultimate in being able to control online identity.
lol, however I don’t discount the fact that you could be right, and when she’s old enough to understand she won’t be terribly happy about having baby pictures online for her friends to laugh at.

Totally, I wonder how many people start to name their kid only to find out it is already taken?
I know one of the first things I’d do when naming a kid would be sure the url is available for them in the future. I cant even imagine the power and branding that could take place over one’s whole lifetime. I am glad I snagged my name as there are about a dozen of us that I know of.
The thing to remember is that she wont be alone in the online baby picture category as many the same age as her will be in the same boat. Cheers.

Nice theme. You may have given Jaiden a great start to her career. Smart kid was eating her first earnings just because she knew that otherwise you’ll have it back, and you did. She may resent you for that exploitation.
