From this day forward, my little "personal" blog will now be known as Todd's blog about Home Business tips.In honor of the minor change, I've reached back into the archives, to find 9 of my "best" posts about leadership, personal growth and building a home business.

From this day forward, my little “personal” blog will now be known as Todd’s blog about Home Business tips.

For all practical intents and purposes, I’m still going to write posts about my family, share pictures that I’ve taken, and link out to friend’s blogs that may have nothing to do with home business. But since I’m actually making an effort to learn about choosing good keywords for my niche blogs, I figured I might look a little silly if the blog where I do most of my writing is just about “everything” (which let’s be honest, really means “nothing in particular”).

And here’s the thing, writing about home business really isn’t a stretch for me … since that’s what my original blog that I started 2 1/2 ago was supposed to be about. Over that time span, as I have “grown” and “evolved” I actually moved the content around to 4 different domain names. lol, If I’d just kept writing on parttimenetworker.com the whole time, I guarantee there’d be a lot more of you reading this right now.

Hey wait, there’s Todd’s Tip #1 for this post: If you start a blog, unless you have a very good reason to change, STICK TO IT! Moving your content is generally a bad, bad idea (unless maybe you’re upgrading from blogger to self-hosted wordpress).

But I digress … ok, back to the topic at hand.

Because I was a dummy, and foolishly never blogged in one place for an extended period of time, quite a bit of my good (in my not so humble opinion) content from the “early days” is pretty well hidden from google (and probably most of my readers). But, there is a bright side …

Since I have all this underutilized content, I figured the best (and easiest) way to launch my rebranding is take a trip back in time and introduce you to a few articles that offer up some solid advice about building a business, leadership and/or personal growth (all are definitely related).

So without further ado …

Finding Your Niche – Yikes in re-reading this one, I could have saved myself about a year and a half of “drifting” had I just printed out my own post, and tacked up to the wall next to my desk.

How NOT To Network – This was a fun, short little post from almost 2 year ago. Sometimes using a negative example can be a good way to teach a positive lesson. That being said, I still get sent these type of messages way too often. Seriously, don’t be “that guy”

It’s All About The Story – I shared this lesson in the context of building a network marketing business. But really, I think it’s pretty universal, and can be applied to just about any type of home or internet business … especially those involving sales (ie., pretty much all of them).

10 Laws of Leadership – Another one that’s a good candidate for printing out and re-reading on a regular basis. I remember doing this exercise way back when I first made this post (which was not Feb of this year … I think this is one that was pushed up by a plugin I was using called “old post promoter”). I think this is definitely an area to put some additional focus here in the very near future.

3 Reasons Why Failure Is Good – I don’t know about you, but I actually don’t get too bent out of shape when things don’t always go exactly as planned. Sometimes, a few bumps in the road are necessary if we’re to get to where we are supposed to be.

The Power Of Rewarding Yourself – “Good Stuff” tends to build on itself. Do you think it’s possible that if we put forth a little bit of effort looking for the “good stuff” we might just attract even more of it?

If You’re Not Having Fun, You’re Not Doing It Right – I don’t this one needs much explanation. It’s my new, old, motto.

Striking The Right Balance Between Family and Business – This one goes hand-in-hand with the article above. No matter how successful you may become with your home business, you MUST keep your priorities straight.

Ok, well there’s much, much more. And really, even if no reads any of these articles, I’ve already considered this post to be a rousing success … for the simple fact that I NEEDED to have a lot of those concepts reinforced for myself.

Ok, on that note it’s bed time.

Catch up with you again real soon,
Todd

People who read this post might also enjoy:
So what exactly does it mean to be “rich”?

Is it a specific level of income per month, or per year? Is it when your net worth (assets minus obligations) reaches a certain pre-defined threshold? Is it a “lifestyle”, that may or may not have anything to do with how much money you actually have?

To be honest, I really don’t know exactly how to pin down a really good definition of rich.

One thing’s for sure though, it sure does seem like most of us spend an inordinate amount of time and energy obsessing over the idea of BEing rich some day.

Here’s something to chew on …

What if we are already rich, but don’t even realize it?

What if being rich, while still involving money, has nothing to do with exactly how much you actually make?

Here’s my definition:

You are Rich when you have Freedom From Money.

Think about that for a second …

It could be argued that the financial crisis our country is currently undergoing was caused by people with a lot of money, who were so obsessed with making even more, that they participated in illogical, and possibly unethical schemes.

These people are not rich (even if those with millions in the bank). The pursuit of money controls their lives.

On the flip side, we all know people who might not possess vast amounts of material wealth, but always seem to have more than enough to live a comfortable life. They don’t worry about money.

In my book, that’s Rich.

Just my three pennies,<br

I just wanted to take a quick opportunity to share some of the best of what I’ve been reading …

First, Jack Humphrey just released the newly updated Authority Black Book 2008. I read the first version of this book back when I was just getting started with Blogger. At the time, I really didn’t understand about half of what I was reading. But, the parts I did understand set the foundation for where I am today with my blogs … and through the course of several additional readings, I eventually figured out most of the rest of it. This new updated version contains all the great lessons of the original, and expands on them. If you’re all interested in Web 2.0 and/or Social Networking, Authority Black Book 2008 is a must read.

The second nice surprise so far this week was today’s release of Build a Niche Store V3.0. I’ve been using BANS on a couple of my domains for about a month and a half now. I can definitely see the potential to earn money with BANS … but, in all honesty I was waiting for the Version 3.0 release before I really dig into it. Alan at affiliate confession has posted a short BANS review, and has promised a more in-depth 5-part tutorial … I’m looking forward to reading it.

One of the best reasons to have blog buddies is so that sometimes you can read a good synopsis of important news, instead of having to find out about, and research it yourself. Yesterday my friend Aaron Cook made just such a post about the new Google Adsense terms and conditions. I don’t use a lot of adsense, I think there’s only one post on this blog (about dreamboards) that has a small adsense unit in it. Even so, I do plan on making more use of adsense in the future … especially on my niche sites … so, it’s important to keep up with all the latest rules. Aaron’s post does a great job of highlighting them.

Another of my new blogging friends, Bobby, has been going though some rough times lately … something I can relate to on more occasions than I’d probably care to admit. But, fortunately it looks like he’s taken some of those experiences and turned them into a positive. In one of his more recent posts, Bobby shares his experience of learning to use his coping skills. I think there’s definitely some lessons in there for all of us.

Even though I swore off the ambition to become a “pro blogger” last week, I still couldn’t resist reading, and Linking to Lin’s wonderful post about 5 Ways to Make your Blog Posts Scream for Attention. I was already a basic understanding of most these tips: 1. Blog Design 2. Post Titles 3. Quality Content 4. SEO Basics 5. Social Media Networking but, I really like the way Lin explains them, and gives real life examples of how and why they work. Telling It Like It Is is definitely one of my favorite “must read” blogs.

And finally, since I also proclaimed a few days ago that I’m a proud network marketer I’ve gotta give some link love to one of my all time favorite mlm trainers, John Milton Fogg. He’s been on a tear lately about Beliefs, and just yesterday posted 10 of his favorite quotes about Belief. I’m a fan of quotes, beliefs, and John Milton Fogg, so this post was a natural for me

Ok, well bed time is quickly approaching, so I’ll have to leave it at that. I hope you enjoy and are able to make use of these posts from my friends.

Keep havin FuN!<br
